PUBLICATION ETHICS

The Jurnal Komunitas Bahasa is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. This statement outlines the principles to be adhered to by all parties involved in the publication process: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

1. Responsibilities of Authors:

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is original and does not contain plagiarism. If authors have used the work and/or words of others, they must appropriately cite or quote them.
  • Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication: Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Submitting the same article to more than one journal constitutes unethical publishing behavior.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Authors should properly acknowledge the work of others. Publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work should also be cited.
  • Authorship of the Paper: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors.

2. Responsibilities of Editors:

  • Publication Decisions: Editors are responsible for deciding which articles submitted to the journal should be published. The decision should be based on the paper’s importance, originality, and clarity, and the study’s validity and relevance to the journal’s scope.
  • Fair Play: An editor must evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.
  • Confidentiality: The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers:

  • Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.
  • Confidentiality: Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.
  • Standards of Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

4. Responsibilities of the Publisher:

  • Maintaining Academic Integrity: The publisher should safeguard the integrity of the academic record and support the efforts to identify and prevent the publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred.
  • Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: The publisher should disclose any potential conflicts of interest.

We expect all parties involved in the publication process at the Jurnal Komunitas Bahasa to adhere to these ethical standards to ensure the quality and integrity of the scientific record.
