Abstract


This study aims to determine the effectiveness of developing independent curriculum-based module teaching materials using the Scaffolding model in terms of the ability to understand mathematical concept of students at SMP Negeri 5 Kisaran in 2022/2023 Academic Year. Learning content, learning methods, interpretation, and assessment techniques arranged in a systematic and riveting manner to achieve the expected indicator of succes. The teacher developed teaching modules before carrying out learning in the classroom. One of the functions of the teaching module is to reduce the teacher’s burden and is in accordance with the Scaffolding learning method where the teacher only present learning conten that the teacher can have a lot of time to be a tutor and continue to help student in the learning process. This type of research is development oriented ( Research and Development) and uses the ADDIE model. The ADDIE model consists of five stages including Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. The results of student’s mathematical concept understanding tests in VIIth-1 class with a total of 30 students and KKM of 60 obtained 28 students who’s (completed (≥60) and 2 student’s who did not complete (≤60) and obtained classical completeness (percentage) 93% with the category very effective to be developed in terms of students understanding of mathematical concept at SMP Negeri 5 Kisaran.Keywords: Learning Module, Scaffolding, Understanding Mathematical Concepts, Free Learning Curriculum
