ETNOMATEMATIKA PADA PERMAINAN KELERENG DI PESISIR ACEH DAN HUBUNGANNYA DENGAN MATEMATIKA SEKOLAH

Abstract


Setiap permainan memiliki peraturan dan gaya permainannya sendiri, demikian pula pada permainan tradisonal kelereng. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan etnomatemtika pada permainan kelereng serta hubungannya dengan matematika sekolah. Jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh anak pesisir Aceh bagian Timur. Teknik Pengambilan sampel adalah sampling incidental dengan jumlah sampel 5 orang anak yang berusia 7-9 tahun. Dalam permainan kelereng terdapat etnomatematika berupa konsep peluang dalam menentukan urutan pemainan, strategi dalam berpikir logis ketika menetukan jarak, kecepatan dan gaya gesek ketika melentingkan kelereng, konsep aljabar seperti perjumlahan, pengurangan dan perkalian, konsep geometri misalnya lingkaran, bola dan persegi. Etnomatematik memiliki hubungan dengan matematika sekolah meskipun terdapat kekuatan dan kelemahan tersendiri. Misalkan ketika matematika sekolah dipandang kaku dan terlalu formal. Dilain tempat anak membutuhkan matematika sekolah untuk mengekpresikan bahasanya ke dalam bentuk tulisan yang dapat dimengerti oleh orang lain. Serta etnomatematik dapat dijadikan suatu pendekatan pembelajaran yang dapat mengkontruksikan pemahaman matematik anak.
