ANALISIS BEBAN KOGNITIF SISWA DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA PADA MATERI TRIGONOMETRI

Abstract


This study aims to analyze students' cognitive load in learning mathematics on trigonometry material. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive research. This research was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Tanjung Tiram involving 30 students of class X-TEI. Data collection techniques in this analysis used purposive sampling, and data collection techniques were carried out by descriptive tests to measure students' intrinsic cognitive load, questionnaires to measure students' extraneous cognitive load, and interviews to measure students' germane cognitive load. The data analysis technique used in this study is to calculate the results of the data obtained from each instrument in depth. The results of this study indicate that the intrinsic cognitive load of class X-TEI students at SMK Negeri 1 Tanjung Tiram has a fairly high intrinsic cognitive load with an average value of 57.1 in the fairly good category, the extraneous cognitive load experienced by students is 62.53%. with the quite effective category, and the germane cognitive load experienced by students, namely the lack of students' understanding of some trigonometry material, one of the contributing factors is because the teacher's way of explaining is too fast and also a lack of learning references. Thus it can be concluded that the cognitive load of students in learning mathematics in trigonometry material is still quite high, so that this research can be an evaluation from various parties and can be used as study material for other researchers in analyzing students' cognitive load in learning mathematics, especially in trigonometry material.
